Discovering my ancestry... À la recherche de mes ancêtres...
La Généalogie et archives SAINT-LAURENT Inc.owes its name to the region "Cornwall along the Saint - Laurence River. The majority of resources available at Généalogie et archives SAINT-LAURENT Inc. will help you find your ancestors who lived in the following regions:
- The three united counties:
- Prescott & Russell
- The diocese of Alexandria-Cornwall
- Akwesasne (parish St. - Régis)
- Quebec (especially the counties that border the Saint - Laurent and Ottawa River)
The majority of our resources covers these regions, but they are not limited to these. We have resources that include the biggest part of the province of Quebec (including Acadia), in addition to some American regions south of our border. People of the states of Maine, New York, Vermont, Massachusetts and even California could find their ancesters thanks to information gathered in our library. Our Canadian members come from the cities of Kingston, Ottawa, Montreal, Vancouver, the maritime provinces and the Northwest Territories and Nunavut.
Even though our resources mainly describe the Catholic population, they are not limited to this. You never know what you can discover therefore, make sure you visit us and check for yourself!

Founded in 1986, Généalogie et archives SAINT-LAURENT Inc. (originally La Régionale Saint-Laurent inc.) is an organization dedicated to the conservation of the franco - ontarien heritage. This nonprofit institution started in the Nativity Church basement having as resource material only one genealogical dictionary. However, thanks to grants, fund-raising and a dedicated working staff, the resource center grew, one book at a time, until it became too big for the location. Since January 2006, the center is situated at the Holy Cross Campus, 124 Anthony St., Cornwall, Ontario. When you will start researching your ancestors at our center, you will be amazed at what you will find!! How did your ancestors earn their living? How many children did they have? The tools to help with your research are: genealogical dictionaries, indexes of baptisms, marriages and burials, books of national and regional history, archivists' reports, notarized documentations, reviewed land-registries and a lot more!
Généalogie et archives SAINT-LAURENT Inc. invites you - young and young at heart - to discover your rich heritage and meet your ancestors.
