During the 1500-1700's each French province was represented by one of the following Coat of Arms. These different coats of arms played an important role during the many battles fought in France over these years. All soldiers would wear the coat of arms for their province somewhere on their uniform. This way, soldiers would be able to distinguish their allies from their enemies.
Our French ancestors can often be traced back to one of these French provinces.
